Let me tell you how to dry fresh parsley at home. Air dry? Oven dry? No matter which method you choose for drying herbs, you will get a delicious parsley powder. Store homemade dried herbs in glass jars and enjoy them year-round.
Air-dry
- If you harvest parsley from your garden, pick the parsley in the morning. And cut at the base of the plant instead of the top. It will encourage the plant to produce even more stems.
- Rinse off the parsley, and then shake out the access water.
- Put the bundle in a paper bag to keep out dust.
- Hang the bundle upside down in a cool spot out of direct sunlight.
- In about 2-3 weeks air-dry parsley will be done.
- Remove and discard stems and store the dried parsley in an air-tight container.
Oven-dry
- Rise your parsley and drain thoroughly.
- Separate the leaves of the herbs from the stems.
- Place a single layer of leaves on an oven-safe rack.
- Set the oven for 170F, and place the rack in the oven.
- Dry the parsley for 45 minutes up to 1 hour.
- Turn off the oven and leave them for 2-3 hours with the oven light on.
- Let them cool completely.
